Annual Business Meeting
via Zoom Conferencing
Hello Mid-Day Women's Alliance Membership,
First, we hope all members and their families are safe and healthy. The decision to cancel the March Membership meeting and seek alternatives for the future was all about your health and safety. Since that communication to all members, the Executive Committee has helped to determine ways we can remotely continue to advance our mission while being Safer at Home.
Mid-day Women’s Alliance (MDWA) purchased a subscription to Zoom conferencing. We have been using this method and we are getting reasonably comfortable with Zoom. We will be using Zoom for the April 15 Annual Business Meeting. The registration confirmation email that you receive will have instructions and links to sign into Zoom. This experience touches all of our pillars - Networking, Advocacy, Mentoring, Education and Skills Building!
This April meeting (via Zoom), is Mid-Day Women’s Alliance's Annual Business Meeting and requires a quorum of members to vote for officer nominations and the budget for the next fiscal year beginning May 1. Mid-Day By-Laws article X defines a quorum as 1/3 of membership. Mid-Day's By-Laws authorizes the use of electronic voting at membership meetings and does not allow proxy votes. Voting prior to the meeting will be allowed by using the link to the ballot below. Please feel free to cast your vote prior to the April 15 meeting time if you feel comfortable with the nominees and the budget. If you have questions, join the meeting at 11:30 AM on April 15, at that time Sarah Coenen will address questions using the "chat" feature in Zoom. Signing into the Zoom meeting prior to the noon start time to ask questions will help save time during the meeting and will allow everyone to see the questions and the answers. The Zoom meeting will be open at 11:30 AM; the Annual Business Meeting formally begins at 12:00 PM.
BUDGET:
Motion and second by Joann Mariahazy and Sandi Rohde respectively to approve Mid-Day Women’s Alliance 2020-2021 budget.
Please review the budget document.
Mid-Day Board fully supports the budget brought forth by the finance committee. The board approved the budget at the March Board Meeting. The final step is to bring the budget to Mid-Day active membership at this April Membership meeting. The budget proposal results in a deficit as it did FY 2019-2020. As with any budget, this is a plan and our best “guess” as to where some line items will end up. For instance, we may have more than 84 members; our D&O insurance may cost less (we are looking at this); and some other expenses may be lower than the budgeted amount. Since, we presently don’t have final numbers, for 2019-2020 we don’t know how actual spending for 2019-2020 compares to budget yet.
OFFICER NOMINATIONS:
Motion and second by Susan Tarr and Sandi Rohde respectively to approve Mid-Day Women’s Alliance 2020-2021 slate of candidates. The ballot has a nomination for each person/position as listed below. Note the Secretary position is currently open but please consider nominating yourself or someone you know to fill this important role.
Cast your vote for budget and officer positions. The ballot opens on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 and will close at 12:30 PM, April 15, 2020 during the April Membership meeting.
