Once the 38th state ratifies the Equal Rights Amendment, Congress will need to pass legislation to remove the deadline for ratification that was included in the original bill in 1972. Bills in the House and Senate have been pending for some time, but action is heating up with input from advocacy groups like the ERA Coalition and Equal Means Equal.
